The seven major areas on the Oasis of the Seas

Spoilt for choice: relaxation, entertainment, pool, trees …… – The seven major areas.

Royal Caribbean has divided the Oasis of the Seas into seven major areas. These 7 „Neighborhoods“ advertises Royal Caribbean, but thats are not nearly all the areas on board. There is still much more to Discover.
The 7 areas:

  • Royal Promenade
  • Boardwalk
  • Entertainment Place
  • Adventure Ocean
  • Central Park
  • Pool & Sports Zone
  • Vitality Spa

The Royal Promenade leads on deck 5 straight through the ship, and is limited by the front through the Opal Theater and rear through the Opus Dining Room. On the Royal Promenade there are many shops, bars and a couple of Dining options. On sea days sometimes even parades or other events take place on the Royal Promenade.

The Boardwalk is located on deck 6 in the rear section of the ship. The area is not covered, it is surrounded on two sides by balconies, the so-called balcony cabins overlooking the Boardwalk. At the rear end of the ship and the boardwalk, is the Aqua Theater located. On the boardwalk you can enjoy shopping, ice and donuts, drive carousel and dine in the restaurant Seafood Shack or Jonny Rockets.

Here you will find a variety of restaurants, where you can sit outside in the green and almost forgets that you are on a ship. The Rising Tide Bar makes in certain intervals stop in Central Park to take new guests and go back down to the Royal Promenade.

Eat! – when, where, how?

Spoilt for choice – Where can I eat today?

In such a large ship like the Oasis you often faced with the question: „Where do we eat today?“ One board you can be very flexibly choose any of the restaurants and a variety of restaurants are also included in the price of your vacation.
If you like to eat some very good stuff and ready to spend one or two dollars for it, you get even more possibilities. When you planning this trip already from home before the departure, you can book various packages for restaurants, so save yourself some money and make even the reservations for the good restaurants.

If you plan to dine in the main buffet restaurant, you should be either early or late to avoid long waiting times, especially at noon. Even at a port day, for lunch on board is not so much going on. Who does not love to want to go to the main restaurant, and like buffet, should try out the Solarium Bistro for breakfast and lunch. There is rarely found a queue and the food is absolutely delicious. You just have a smaller selection. In the evening, one of the charged restaurants is of course something special. Who has something to celebrate, or would like to try „Fine Dining“, must do the 150 Central Park. But Giovannis, Chops Grill or the Solarium Bistro are worth a visit. Certainly nobody must be starving on board!

1-2 times in a 7-day trip you should treat yourself to it and go in one of the speciality restaurants. Our highlight, and we would definitely recommend the 150 Central Park. Mmhhh delicious!

Then soon a detailed report on the restaurants.

Days at sea – relaxing or boring?

Days at sea are for some the base of a cruise, for others the evil forced displacement between the shore excursions.

Our trip on the Oasis led us in the Western Caribbean and Mexico. We visited Labadee in Haiti, Falmouth in Jamaica and Cozumel in Mexico. And we had three days at sea.

But even if you are not a sunbather or bookworm you will find plenty of employment at a day at sea.

Of course, a day at sea, like any port day, begins with a decent breakfast. Depending on your preference you can choose one of the many restaurants on board. Depending on your mood, for example you can take a served breakfast in the main restaurant, can load up your plate at the buffet or you prefer the cabin service and a comfortably breakfast on the own balcony (If you have one).

Who would not necessarily eat at a certain time in a certain restaurant, you can inform yourself in your cabin on TV. The interactive TV shows waiting times or levels of the different restaurants and you can work around the waiting times and crowded buffet. After breakfast you have to make your choice for the day at sea. Royal Caribbean offers a variety of activities and events throughout the day. On sea days, also the one or the other big show takes place in the afternoon.

At noon there is then, of course, go back to eat. Again, it helps to look at the TV what’s going on in the various restaurants.
Afternoon you can do sometimes a little nap on the balcony or by the pool. This is not wrong on a vacation at sea;-)

But Royal Caribbean provides enough entertainment around the whole day to be busy. Swimming in one of the pools, mini-golf, ice skating, surfing, table tennis, basketball, zipline, various parades on the Royal Promenade, decorating cupcakes and much more!

With this offers even a day at sea passes very quickly and it goes again to eat. After dinner then a show and at the end of the day a tasty beverage in one of the many bars, maybe even nice live music. A day at sea is exciting and passes quickly.
